Ronald B. Menzin, MD
Ronald B. Menzin, MD is assuming the office of president of the NCMS, effective, July 1, 2020. His professional experience encompasses 13-years of direct patient care activities and 20-years in administrative leadership roles. He is currently Cigna’s Sr. Medical Director for the NY-NJ market and manages physician leaders who support the New England, Connecticut, and NY-NJ markets. Board certified in Internal Medicine, he was in solo practice for ten years (Levittown &Bethpage) and then spent three years with Winthrop University Hospital’s primary care group-practice (Massapequa). During these years, he held numerous physician and business leadership positions at New Island Hospital (now St. Joseph’s Hospital) in Bethpage. Chairperson for Cigna’s East Region Credentialing Committee, he also serves on committees overseeing a wide range of activities: Quality-of-Care Performance, ICD-10 Sensitive Code Reviews, the Wellness Council, and the Leadership Steering Committee for market medical directors. In this role, he works directly with physician groups on improving their quality results, total medical cost trends, and patient satisfaction scores. His personal and professional areas of interest include making healthcare delivery more accessible, efficient, effective, value-based, and most importantly, satisfying for patients and their physicians. Dr. Menzin believes that increasing patients’ healthcare literacy will improve patient engagement–and ultimately their health and well-being. Ron grew up in Hicksville, NY, where he attended the Waldorf School in Garden City and then Hofstra University. He received his medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship training at Nassau County Medical Center (now NUMC). Ron has been an officer of the executive committee of NCMS for six years and also serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Nassau Academy of Medicine, the NCMS Public Health Committee, and the MSSNY House-of-Delegates. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of Nassau County (July 2018-Dec. 2019) and a past-president of the Community Reform Temple in Westbury, NY (July 2012-June 2013). An avid golfer, he is the immediate past vice-president of the Mill River Club in Oyster Bay. Blessed by the marriage to Joanne, he’s the proud father of three wonderful children and five exceptional grandchildren. Remarkably, his wife, father, two brothers, mother-in-law, two uncles, and three cousins have been or are currently providing healthcare to their communities.
